Cities are where human migration stories converge. They have always been the places where people from different origins meet, mix, and create new identities — from ancient Uruk and Alexandria to medieval Baghdad and Constantinople, to modern New York, Lagos, and Mumbai.

We are building in-depth entries for historically significant cities worldwide, covering their founding populations, successive waves of migrants and settlers, the genetic and linguistic diversity they accumulated, and their role in the broader story of human movement.
